Our Society

The Great Western Railway (London) Golfing Society

Formed in 1937.

President: Alec Bath

Our current members are mainly working and retired railwaymen, but non-railwaymen are welcome to join as associate members.

We play golf courses located within the geographical area of the former Western Region of British Rail, but within comfortable travelling distance of London and Bristol. Our annual programme comprises five Society Golf Days, a Spring or Summer Break, matches against other railway golfing societies and an annual dinner; the dinner is preceded by a round of golf, with the option of an overnight stay and a second round of golf the following morning.

Please click here for details of this year’s fixtures and events.

We welcome new members

Interested in joining our Society? Why not come along to one of our five Society Golf Days to meet us and to see how we function as a Society?

Using the above links, choose an event and contact the Society.

We’ll want to know your club handicap or, if you don’t have one, what you believe to be an appropriate handicap. Our Secretary will then get back to you with details/costs of our Golf Days and explaining the new member procedures. After you’ve played in one of our events, you can decide whether or not you wish to join. Membership is subject to Committee approval, normally a formality.
The annual membership subscription is £15 (£20 from 2023).
